Battlefield: Bad Company sequel confirmed (CVG 4/1/09)
Speaking about EA's release schedule for next fiscal year, company CEO John Riccitiello has confirmed a Battlefield: Bad Company sequel.
"In Q4 Battlefield: Bad Company will be back on consoles from our DICE studio in Stockholm," he said.
We're guessing this was the new DICE game we were due to see at EA's UK digs on Monday before the snow sent Britain crazy.
Either way, we're hoping to get a look at it sooner rather than later, now that we know it's due for release between January and March next year.
360 and PS3 FPS Battlefield: Bad Company was well-received when it released last year. It featured decent single and multiplayer modes, and was praised for its destructible environments powered by the hardware-pushing Frostbite Engine.

DICE today announced the development Battlefield: Bad Company 2. B company will have to fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages, with a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to help them on their way.
DICE has also announced the summer 2009 release of Battlefield 1943, an all new multiplayer game coming to PC, Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Store. Created using the same Frostbite engine that powers Bad Company, Battlefield 1943 will take players back to WWII, promising endless hours of 24-player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.
"Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante - more vehicles, more destruction and more team play," said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer Battlefield Franchise, DICE. "Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we're eager to get into players hands."
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is scheduled for release in Q1 2010 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, while Battlefield 1943 will be available this summer for PC, Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Store.
