New Transformers game revealed (CVG 6/2/09)
Activision's revealed a new Transformers game that'll tie-in with the latest movie. Who saw that one coming?
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - let's hope it's better than the first one - is a third person action title that'll chuck you into the centre of a global battle where "every second and every choice makes the difference between mankind's salvation and annihilation".
Combining "robot combat with arcade-style vehicle sequences and flight-based levels", it'll also have multiplayer modes.
"The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game lets gamers step into the shoes of the Autobots or Decepticons, select any available mission and pick from the largest, most diverse range of playable Transformers - each with their own distinct abilities and weaponry," says the publisher.
"Set in unique environments across the globe such as Cairo and Shanghai, the game allows players to instantly switch between vehicle and robot modes as they drive, fly, fight and blast their way through intense, pressure-packed levels. After engaging in single player action, players for the first time ever will be able to go online and battle friends in all-new multiplayer modes."
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is currently in development at Luxoflux for the 360 and PS3. The PC version's being handled by Beenox Studios, while Krome Studios is doing the "distinct" Wii and PlayStation 2 versions.
Two completely different titles are being developed for DS by Vicarious Visions, allowing players to take on Autobot or Decepticon-specific campaigns.
In addition, "a unique, fast-paced action arcade title" is being developed by Savage Entertainment.
No release dates were mentioned, but seeing as the movie's out in June you can pretty much bet on a similar launch period for the game.
We should have some screens soon.
