MS expects PS3 price drop soon (CVG 7/1/09)

Xbox director of product management Aaron Greenberg reckons Sony will cut the price of the PS3 in the near future. So do most of us.

"We absolutely expect the PS3 price drop to happen in the next couple of months," he told Edge.


"We're frankly surprised it's taken this long. ... I would expect they'd have to move on price, sooner than later, for sure," he added.

The comments were made as Microsoft announced that its relatively cheap Xbox 360 had hit 28 million sales worldwide, which the company claims is eight million more than PS3 has managed.

Despite Greenberg's prediction, Sony recently denied reports that it will cut the PS3's price in March.

The company says its primary aim in the short term is to "start making money", and that PS3 sales gathered momentum right through 2008, ending with a massive boost in PS3 adoption over the Christmas period.
