The PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be denied any of its lavish special editions revealed for consoles.

Neither the Prestige Edition - which comes with a working pair of night vision goggles - nor the Hardened Edition - which comes with an art book, tin case and code to download the original Call of Duty - will be available, reports Big Download.

Not that anyone who plans to download it on Steam will give a monkey's anyway.

Modern Warfare 2's out in November.

Even Amazon isn't expecting too much traffic on this Memorial Day, as The Last Remnant for PC is the company's "deal of the day" for $27. The game won Japanese mag Famitsu's "rookie title prize" for 2008.

The PC version of The Last Remnant isn't as bad in the technical department as the Xbox 360 version, which was marred by some inconsistent frame rates, pop-in and loading times. The game isn't by any means a top-tier JRPG, but for PC players without a console, it's ... well, it's a JRPG on the PC.

    i got that at christmas...

If everything goes according to plan, Creative Assembly will next week release an update for Empire: Total War that will address a number of AI flaws and critical bugs.

While this isn't the first update the brilliant yet technically "eccentric" game has received, it's certainly the biggest (with "over 70 bug fixes") and most wide-ranging.

A number of crash glitches have been "solved", along with audio, save game and assassination fixes. The AI has been improved in naval combat, and, best of all, the AI can now attempt naval invasions of your territory....

In the post - signed 'Windows 7 Team' - the subject of XP upgrading is broached, but it admits that, actually, an upgrade option has never been part of the plan.

"We realized at the start of this project that the 'upgrade' from XP would not be an experience we think would yield the best results. There...
