Capcom exec and Mega Man daddy Keiji Inafune has explained that the company's desire to break into the western market was behind its decision to bring a number of titles to Xbox 360 as timed exclusives.

Having served as producer on two such games, Dead Rising and Lost Planet, Inafune says the strategy has paid off.

"I think the success of these two titles was a major achievement for our company. That the Xbox 360 was such a big hit, and the products that we made for the overseas market were so well received was extraordinary," he says in a Capcom developer interview.

"I think I can only get away with saying this now, but I really thought that the using the Xbox was only way to break into overseas markets, and I took that hypothesis all the way. In the end, I am very happy that I did so."

It's unclear if Capcom will continue with this strategy going forward - a new Lost Planet title has so far only been confirmed for 360, but it has been rumoured that Dead Rising 2 will be multiplatform.
