PS3 exclusives to look out for in 2009
As 2009 begins, gamers can look forward to a brand new year of gaming. And what better way to start the New Year than to list the best and biggest exclusive games for the PlayStation 3 in 2009. So here we go, in no particular order...
Killzone 2
Guerrilla Games has been working very hard on one of Sony's premier exclusive titles, Killzone 2. The game was first revealed at E3 2005, in the form of a CG teaser trailer. Many felt that the game could not deliver on the visuals that were promised almost 4 years ago, but after many delays Killzone 2 is almost ready for release. Killzone 2 is poised to be one of the best First Person Shooter experiences this generation. The gameplay looks and feels great, as those in the beta can confirm, and is definitely a graphical powerhouse for Sony and it's PlayStation 3. Don't believe the naysayers, this game will be awesome, and is one of the games that Xbox 360 and PC gamers really want. Sorry guys only on PlayStation 3.
Release Date: 25-27th February 2009
inFamous
InFamous is the first PS3 development for Sucker Punch Productions, who are responsible for the fantastic Sly Cooper series on PS2. InFamous sees you take on the role of Cole, who manages to survive a massive explosion in Empire City, and come out with electrifying super powers. InFamous is the first open-world action-adventure title exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
Release Date: Spring 2009
Yakuza 3
One of the very few exclusive games for PlayStation 3 by Sega. The game was already released in Japan earlier this year, and we're hoping for a English version of the game hopefully some time in 2009. There is some hope that this game will be coming to North America and Europe because Yakuza 2 was released in North America, however it took Sega 2 years to do that so...
Release Date: TBA 2009?
Gran Turismo 5
Polyphony Digital president, Kazunori Yamauchi, was quoted as saying "Gran Turismo 5 is coming earlier than you think", well we all thought it was coming in 2010. So I guess that means it's coming out at some point in 2009, some even speculated Spring 2009. The Gran Turismo series has long been hailed as a "system seller" for PlayStation, which is not surprising when the game has sold over 50 million over the years. Even the "demo", Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, sold 2.6 million physical copies worldwide, if digital copies were included in this we wouldn't be surprised to see sales of over 4 million. Gran Turismo 5 is so good, that sometimes it looks real, and no other racing game can even compare to it graphically.
Release Date: TBA 2009
Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer
Heavy Rain is the latest project by Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy developer, Quantic Dream. Quantic Dream is in fact a motion capture studio, but also has a game studio. Their previous game, Farenheit, was based on QTEs (Quick Time Events), where players press a button during a cutscene to make a certain action happen. This may seem boring to many gamers, but Farenheit was not once boring in any way. Rarely can games be called "art", but Farenheit was definitely art, and if Heavy Rain is anything like Farenheit it will be fantastic. Possibly the most exciting aspect of Heavy Rain is that the main character in the story can die, yet the story will continue from another character's viewpoint.
Release Date: Q3 2009
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Sequel to the fantastic Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, by Naughty Dog, do we have to say anything else?
Release Date: Q3 2009
Ratchet & Clank 2
Ratchet & Clank is often brushed aside by most gamers as a children's game, and I'm sad to say that this is the opinion of some video game journalists as well. The fact is that Ratchet & Clank is Pixar quality in more than one way. Graphically it sometimes looks like a Pixar movie, but the humor in the game is also similar to that in Pixar movies, appealing to both children and adults. Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Destruction was one of the best action games of this generation, 12 hours of non-stop action, and none of it was boring in the slightest. Though it seems variety in a game is a bad thing for some journalists. Look forward to Ratchet & Clank 2 towards the end of 2009.
Release Date: Q4 2009
God Of War 3
God Of War is another one of them games that people consider a system seller, however we would not label it as such. Either way this game will be fantastic, God Of War 1 and 2 were two of the best games available on PS2. If reports are accurate God Of War 3 looks set to be one of the best looking games available on any console. The problem is that we don't know when this game is being released, teaser trailers for both Uncharted 2 and God Of War 3 were released at the VGAs 2008. Uncharted 2's teaser however came with a release date, "Fall 2009", God Of War 3 didn't.
Release Date: Q4 2009 (Maybe?)
Very Honorable Mentions
M.A.G. - Massive Action Game, by Zipper Interactive the makers of SOCOM. This will be the game SOCOM fans have been waiting for, and boasts an impressive 256-player online multiplayer mode.
White Knight Chronicles - Level-5's exclusive RPG, that got surprisingly low review scores from Famitsu. Lower than the dreadful Infinite Undiscovery, however 1up has assured us that WKC is much much better than Infinite Undiscovery. I guess it goes to show that review scores aren't everything.
Final Fantasy XIII - This would have made it on to the main list, if there wasn't already too much stuff on there. Final Fantasy XIII releases exclusively (timed) for Japanese PS3 owners in Q4 2009 (most likely). A lot of websites would speculate that Versus XIII is also coming this year, but it almost definitely will not be.Originally this was a Sony exclusive!!
Flower - The first game ever in the genre of Zen gaming, coming to PSN soon.
Noby Noby Boy - Crazy little PSN title by the creator of Katamari Damacy.
Fat Princess - Capture the flag...but…slightly different.
Team ICO Game - Whenever this game comes out, whatever it is, we will be buying it. If there's one thing we've learned from PS2, it's to trust that Team ICO make the BEST games. Although this is most likely coming in 2010.
WarDevil - Formally Xbox 360 exclusive, now completely PS3 exclusive.

Re: PS3 exclusives to look out for in 2009
Final Fantasy XIII isn't an exclusive to Sony anymore, they will be releasing it on the Xbox 360. Either way, PS3 will have good exclusives this year. By the way, I don't own a PS3, only an Xbox 360, but my friend has a PS3 and it is quite fun. I just hopes he gets most of these games when it comes out so I can try them out.

Re: PS3 exclusives to look out for in 2009
The only game here that might make me want to get a PS3 is Heavy Rain, because Farenheit was possibly my favourite game of the last generation.
