Gmail outrage cost Irish €10m (The Sunday Business Post 1/3/09)

The cost in productivity to Irish companies from last Monday's Gmail outrage could be in excess of €10 million, according to the business organisations. The world's second most popular web e-mail service crashed for a hour and a half on Monday, causing 25 million people to be without e-mail access worldwide. Some businesses using Google's online productivity applications.

Google is the one of a slew of companies trying to convince businesses to switch their productivity software to Google Apps. It is also one of the biggest beneficiaries of the move to cloud computing.

In Ireland, there are more than 100,000 Gmail users, according to Google
