Ubisoft expects new consoles by 2012 (CVG 23/1/09)
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says the publisher is already preparing for the next generation of consoles, which he's expecting to launch in 2011 or 2012.
The company's doing so by eyeing new brands and technology.
On top of that Ubi seems to be bucking the trend and staffing up while everyone else is laying off workers.
"We want to take advantage of a company that could bring more technology to us, or new brands," Guillemot said.
"So we have now enough to help us to grow the company for not only next year but to get ready for the coming of the next generation consoles that are probably going to happen 2011, 2012.
"We have to be ready for that, we are already hiring people and buying some technology and looking at some brands as well."
According to Destructoid, Ubisoft is also planning to reveal the acquisition of a new sports property, after the success of Shaun White Snowboarding.
In addition it just unveiled plans to release new Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon and Red Steel games during its fiscal year 2009-2010, which runs from this April to next March.
